Mathematics Month ends in a good note
Last January 27, 2017, the Math Department concluded the Mathematics Month with the ‘Math Jingle’ that was held at the school quadrangle and was participated by students from different grade levels.
The said activity aimed at highlighting the dancing and singing skills of the students while emphasizing how great it is learning Math. Contestants lit-up the quadrangle donned in their colorful and creative costumes.
There were three judges for the event: Mr. Jilliane Gacuma, from Philippine Star, Mrs. Helen Sampaga-Acedo, the Division Math Coordinator and Ms. Raquel Martirez, the HR personnel of San Juan City Hall.
Contestants gave their best in this contest but in the end the following took the top three spots:
Champion - 10-Earth
1st runner up - 10-Mars
2nd runner up - 9-Yakal
Winners from the different contests and activities during the early part of the month were also recognized during the awarding. Here are the complete list of activities and the corresponding 1st prize winners:
Tangram Contest - Nicole Anne A. Macario of 7-Carnation
Kite Flying – Allan Romero, Arnold Galicio and Joseph Victor Barcenas of 9-Yakal
Tower of Hanoi – Kian Anil E. Co of 9-Narra
Damath Contest – Matt Angelo B. Lim of 10-Earth
Sudoku Challenge – Emmerson C. Isip of 9-Sun
Math Challenge (A) – Ralph Evan Selga of 8-Air and Vin Cyril Vasquez of 7-Newton
Math Challenge (B) – Paul Lyndon A. De Los Reyes of 10-Earth and Emmerson C. Isip of 9-Sun
Winner from the Math Jingle Contest received a Certificate and cash prize while those from individual contests received a certificate.
Math Department also had an exhibit displayed at the school lobby. The exhibit held works of Grade 9-10 covering all their lessons in Math and creative artworks connected to Filipino Tribe.
