Science Department Holds Month-Ending Program

The Science Department of SJNHS held its Culminating Activity last September 30, Tuesday at 8 in the morning which transpired at the school’s quadrangle

The Science Department together with the Science Club & Enviroteens were the ones responsible for the event that was themed “Environmental Protection and Conservation of the Ecosystem.”

Before formally opening the program, a parade was held by the students who competed for the events on the program. Principal Lucila Artuyo gave her opening remarks for the students and teachers of the Science Dep’t.

The program was a two-part event/competition: Cosplay & Scicapella were the competition fought by the students at the program. Mrs. Joselle Ira Liwanag organized the Cosplay Competition and Mrs. Melany Fernandez for the Scicapella Competition. Mr. Ruel Liwanag and Mr. Hernan Apurada were the Masters of Ceremony for the Cosplay & Scicapella respectively.

An awarding ceremony was also conducted for the students who competed in the poster-making contest earlier within the month and also for the Lakan & Lakambini winners.

The Cosplay competition had four themes for the costumes; the Fire, Air, Earth, and Water elements. Various students joined and presented their respective costumes for the competition.

The winners were as follows: Fire Element: Abegail Camposano from 10 – Mars, Air Element: Bhea Marano of Grade 10 – LapuLapu. Frances Landicho from Grade 9 – Sun for the Earth element, and lastly Angelica Herrera from 9 – Sun for the Water Element.

Mrs. Joselle Ira Liwanag closed the ceremony and gave closing remarks for the event.

At 10 in the morning the “Scicapella” competition started where the coordinator for Science Department - Mrs. Myrna G. Solis gave her opening message and presented the judges.

The winners for the competition were as follows: 2nd Runner-up Grade 8 Air 1st Runner-up was Grade 9 Narra, and surprisingly, the champions tied at their final score, they were Grade 10 Earth & Mars from the Special Science Class.

After the awarding for the Scicapella winners, Deon Malik Cuevas from Grade 10 Mars & Roselyn Joy Generoza from 10 Earth were crowned and awarded as Lakan & Lakambini 2016.
