DLL – takes toll or rakes success?
“To deliver quality instruction based on the principle of sound instruction” such were the promised results of the Daily Lesson Log (DLL)."
DepEd order 42, s. 2016, the newest order of the Department of Education entitles the teachers to create daily lesson logs at the end of their Lesson Plan. This is to record the progress of the students on learning their curricullum matrix for every module. Though a format was already given to make this additional taste casier, some fin this very tyrannical of the government to improvement so.
A chain of complaints worked their way through the gates of Malacañang as some teachers dream that writing these DLL’s take away precious time that could have been spent for making better usual aids, checking test papers, or basically their free time. They also claim that it is an oppressive scheme of K to 12 that creates a lot of stress among them. Let’s not forget that the teachers are also in charge of some tasks Government agtencies have given like diworming and vaccination program of DOH and anti-bullying/anti-drug compain of PNP.
But is DLL nessesarily a bad thing?
True, it takes up precious time, but what is this sacrifice would suffice for our Educational Revolution? The government acts as it sees economical thus if this is followed, it may show how to best facilitate the teaching process and empower the students to carry out quality instructions honed by teachers through DLL.
Since the country is still a little bit in-the-dark on facing K to 12 education head-on, it would take more time to find out if making Daily Lesson Logs are necessesary, but in the meantime, it is the teachers’ job to do so. Though how many would have the passion and follow this order? How many are foolish enough disobey? And how many would be ignorant and unlawful?
